How do I Book a Bus Ticket?
The bus industry is one of the fastest growing transport markets in the US. Thanks to inexpensive prices and many direct and express connections, numerous travelers opt for a bus trip. If you want to do the same, then you can use CheckMyBus to find the right bus route for you. Once you have found it, then all that is left to do is to book your ticket.
Online Booking:
Booking a ticket online is probably the easiest option. After you have chosen your trip with the help of the CheckMyBus search function, you can click on “View Deal” and you will instantly be redirected to the respective bus company’s website, where you can complete the booking process. Most bus companies will send you your ticket as an e-ticket via e-mail. You can then print it at home or simply use your smartphone screen to show it to the bus driver. Some companies also allow you to pick your printed ticket up in person. When you book a Greyhound bus ticket, for instance, you can collect it at the bus terminal, 7/11 stores or ACE Cash Express stores. In order to do so, you will need to present a valid photo ID and the 8 digit reservation code that you received via e-mail.
When it comes to payment methods, then credit and debit cards are the most common option since they are accepted by all of the bus companies.
Buying the Ticket at the Bus Stop:
Some companies allow you to purchase your ticket directly at the bus stop. On larger bus terminals, such as in New York City, you will find specific selling points of companies such as Greyhound or Jefferson Lines. While this allows for spontaneous journeys, an extra fee might apply and the ticket could be more expensive than an online fare. What you should also keep in mind is that the bus of your choice might already be fully booked. Also pay attention to the fact that not every bus company sells tickets at bus stops: The low-cost provider megabus, for instance, only offers online tickets.
Can I Buy a Bus Ticket for Someone Else?
Greyhound Bus Lines and Jefferson Lines allow customers to reserve and pay for a ticket that is collected by someone else. You have the possibility to buy a ticket online and to choose a bus terminal, where a friend or family member can pick it up. This is particularly handy for customers without a credit card or other means of online payment. The person picking up the ticket has to present a valid photo ID and a password as authorization. However, this service is usually charged an extra fee. In the case of Greyhound and Jefferson Lines an additional $18 have to be paid. There might also be further conditions attached to the pick-up service. Jefferson Lines customers, for example, only have 10 days to pick up their ticket. In addition, only the person who has purchased the ticket can claim a refund.
How can I Cancel or Change a Booking?
When it comes to cancelling a trip or changing a booking, it is important that you know which kind of ticket you have purchased. Greyhound Bus, Jefferson Lines and Trailways, for example, offer both refundable and non-refundable tickets. In general, the latter a bit less expensive. If you are not 100 per cent sure whether you will actually use your ticket or whether you will take the bus at a specific time, then it is recommended to pick the refundable option. Some bus companies, such as megabus, only offer non-refundable tickets. However, you can change your reservation but a small arrangement fee will be charged. What Happens if I Lose My Bus Ticket?
If you lose your Greyhound ticket or a ticket for any other bus provider, then unfortunately you need to book a new one. If you have only lost the printed version, then you can check your e-mails for the original ticket in order to print it out again. Should you lose your ticket on the way to the bus stop, then you can ask the bus driver or at a service point whether an electronic version of your ticket is ok for you to board or whether they can print out your actual ticket for you. Should you book a bus trip and you did not receive an e-mail, you should check your spam folder before contacting the bus company.
How Can I Save More Money with Discounts?
In order to compete with each other, the various bus companies offer different forms of discount. It’s always worth checking them out in order to find out, which bus provider really offers the best overall deal. I believe I booked a seat on National Express from Heathrow on 26th. Sept. (the 14.30, arriving Newmarket 20.10. Return trip is Wed. 17th. October, 10.45 bus from Newmarket to Heathrow.

However, alternatively, you can also travel from Los Angeles to Salem, Oregon for $165 per person, and then from Salem, you can travel directly to Seattle for about $32 per person. This would be about $197 to $224 per person, with the prices varying depending on when and how far in advance you book. With Greyhound, passengers aged 62 and over can receive a 5% discount with photo identification and proof of age. So, this would be about $187 to $213 after the discount. We are arriving with a wizzair flight at 9:20 PM at Bratislava Airport. Should I book bus from Bratislava Airport to Vienna for 9:20PM or for 11:20PM? I am not sure if we are going to be late with the flight, but waiting 2 hours in tha late evening with a kid is also a problem. Does the bus from 9:20PM is waiting for the passengers from the wizzair flight?

By leaving at 9:20, which is when you’ll be arriving, you will leave yourself no time to get through the airport to catch your bus, and if the flight is even slightly delayed, you will miss it. Buses do their best to leave and arrive on time so they typically don’t wait for passengers. If you are riding with a company, such as FlixBus, however you can consider looking at a flexible ticket for an extra fee, and then book for the 9:20 flight, so that even if you miss it, you can still catch the bus at 11:20. I am trying to determine if my husband and I can take the bus from Catania to Piazza Amerina and then return on the same day. We would get a taxi to Villa Romana de Casale.

I am looking for tickets from Ottawa to Montreal, the price on Checkmybus is shown as $28 CAD, but then when I click on ‚View Deal“ it takes me to Busbud and this doesn’t even show me „my deal“ I had chosen on Checkmybus for the hour and the bus I chose, it just shows a new search on BusBud with all the prices being $40 CAD. I don’t see what use is your site really in this case?

We are 8 persons searching for bus transportation between Barcelona Airport (BCN) and Tarragona (round trip tickets). We arrive in BCN October 3, 13:20. Could you confirm that there is a bus leaving outside Terminal 2 at 03:15PM and 04:30 PM? Do we need to pree-book and pree-pay tickets or is it possible to buy tickets from the driver or in the airport?
Are luggage included in the price? All 8 of us will have one luggage each and some may also have hand-luggages.
Return trip is October 6, 10:05 from Terminal 1. I cannot find any buses to T1. Do we need to go to T2 and take a shuttle bus to T1?

Thank you for your message. There are airport shuttles between Terminal 1 and 2 which connect to locations throughout the city of Barcelona. From Barcelona Sants, you can travel directly to Tarragona Central Bus Station. Unfortunately, there are no connections for this route that depart at 3:15 or 4:30, and the next bus leaves at 18:00.
You should be able to book the tickets with your airport shuttle upon arrival, but it’s always worthwhile to look into booking online to be secure. As for the bus from Barcelona to Tarragona, we always suggest booking online for intercity connections for the cheapest rates and to secure your seat for the time you’d like to travel on.
For your return trip, there are buses from Tarragona back to Barcelona Sants at 04:05, 05:35 and 07:55 with the last trip getting you back to Barceona by 09:30. Oncein Barcelona, you should be able to reach the airport via local transportation.
